FoodSafe Drains Highlights Area Drain Offering for Hygienic Food Production Environments

Drainage line includes round bottom, cone bottom, and shallow configurations for varied drainage requirements

FoodSafe Drains, a leading provider of hygienic drainage solutions, highlights its line of FoodSafe Area Drains engineered for food production and other sanitation-critical environments. The product family is designed to support facilities that need durable, easy-to-clean drainage solutions capable of managing liquids and solids while helping maintain high hygiene standards.

The FoodSafe Area Drain features a fully spun, no-niche, continuously sloped stainless steel design developed to meet NSF/ANSI/3-A standards. Because the drain body is fully spun, it eliminates seams where bacterial harborage points can form, supporting improved cleanability in demanding processing environments.

Built in conjunction with industry partners, the FoodSafe Area Drain comes standard with a custom-fit strainer basket and can also be equipped with an optional secondary magnetic locking strainer. This added protection helps prevent unauthorized access to underground plumbing while reducing the likelihood of costly blockages.

FoodSafe Drains offers several area drain configurations to suit a wider range of facility layouts and performance needs. Available options include the Round Bottom Area Drain, positioned as the standard in hygienic drainage performance; the Cone Bottom Area Drain, designed for high-flow applications where increased velocity is needed; and the Shallow Area Drain, a custom solution for installations with depth constraints. These models are available in square top and round top configurations.

Constructed entirely from T304 or T316 stainless steel, the FoodSafe Area Drain is designed for long-term performance in corrosive washdown environments and can withstand extreme temperature shocks from hot-water cleaning. Each drain comes standard with a flush-fitting, 1/2-inch-thick hygienically designed stainless steel lid, while multiple lid and grate styles are also available, including pharmaceutical GMP lids.

With a standard 8-inch diameter, custom sizing available on request, and a flow rate of 32 GPM, the FoodSafe Area Drain is well suited for facilities seeking efficient point drainage in areas of 400 square feet or less. The product also carries a Load E rating, making it appropriate for heavy forklift and pallet jack traffic in demanding production spaces.

Target applications include food and beverage processing facilities, pharmaceutical manufacturing spaces that require GMP-compliant drainage options, restaurants and commercial kitchens seeking a cleaner and more durable alternative to traditional sealed floor drains, heavy-traffic production areas, loading docks, and utility rooms that need flood protection.

With its FoodSafe Area Drain offering, FoodSafe Drains continues to provide facilities with hygienic drainage solutions that combine durability, cleanability, and application flexibility. The line is intended to help customers select the right drain design for their operational, sanitation, and traffic requirements.
