Liquid-applied floor coatings are durable, sanitary, and seamless. However, without proper installation, the intersection between floor drains and floor coatings can create a weak point, leading to two major issues:
- Risk of Contamination: Cracks in the floor coating along the edge of the drain can allow bacteria to infiltrate the concrete below increasing the risk of contamination in food and beverage processing plants.

engineered for a perfect fit
The KeyForm System is an aluminum form used during the concrete pour that strengthens the bond between liquid-applied floor coatings and drains, preventing cracking and contamination. It works by creating a channel, or ‘keyway,’ along the edge of the drain during the concrete pour. This channel allows a greater volume of resin to collect in the seam, stabilizing the floor coating and preventing cracking and infiltration.
The KeyForm system includes a proprietary drain pretreatment that increases adhesion by up to 80%
How it Works
Install the KeyForm quickly and easily via our snap-in-place system using a rubber mallet.
Pour your concrete. The KeyForm is engineered to form a uniform channel along the drain, while also acting as a protective cover.
Remove the KeyForm after the initial cure of the concrete, once it is walkable, but prior to the full cure.
The result is enhanced floor coating adhesion to the drain when paired with select pretreated drainage systems.
